Community Involvement at Makalali Research & Endangered Species Projects

The Holy Family Orphanage provides a home for children affected by HIV.  We visit them every two to three weeks and spend some time playing with the children.  They love the attention and it is a wonderful feeling to be able to bring a smile to their faces with just a hug.  As well as basic moral support, we also support them with some provisions.  We will often buy them some food and special treats when we visit, and volunteers are asked for a small donation to cover this.  Volunteers are also welcome to bring other things with them, or to buy them locally.  The things most needed are as follows;

- Educational toys

- Stationary

- Crayons, drawing books, pens, pencils, paints etc.

- Educational posters

- Medical kits

If you would like to know more about the orphanage please visit their website to see the amazing work that is being done there at Holy Family Care Center.

Community Involvement at Zingela Transfrontier Project

The Rethkagile Special Needs Childrens home is supported by our Zingela Transfrontier Project.  It is a home for children with special needs ranging from Downs Syndrome to possible autism.  Having already raised enough funds to put down a deposit, Siyafunda is in the process of raising funds to be able to fully purchase the house the children live, and are looked after, in.  When this has been achieved we will be able to start work on renovations and maintenance to the house in order to improve the facilities and give the children a better standard of living.  In the meantime, we support them with weekly visits to help provide much needed supplies of food, as well as educational equipment.  For more information please see the Zingela Transfrontier page on the website.
